MIU Interdisciplinary Program:  An interdisciplinary Ph.D. program of study offered jointly by the MIU Departments of Regenerative Organic Agriculture, Integrated Health Care, Business and Vedic Studies.

Candidates:  The target candidates will be those US citizens who are also recognized tribal members of the Native American Nations.  Candidates may also be those focused on serving the Native American population or simply students of Native American traditions.

Degree Prerequisite:  Masters or equivalent, to be determined case by case.

Work Experience:  The program will restrict itself to candidates who have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of work experience in an occupation related to the selected field of study.

Research Only:  This approach assumes that the candidate student has an existing graduate degree plus 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience.  As such, it is assumed that the student will be ready to engage in a mentored research-only approach to their Ph.D. candidacy.

Transferable Credits:  It would be acceptable and advantageous if a student has existing post-master’s level course work credits that could be transferred to MIU.  It may also be the case that during and simultaneous to the student’s Ph.D. study at MIU that such student might take selected course work at other universities that support their MIU research program, and such credits could be transferred to MIU.

Mentors:  It is anticipated that all the listed departments will have collaborating Ph.D. level mentor candidates who could join a committee of 3 minimum mentors for each Ph.D. candidate.

Hybrid-Online and On-Campus:  The program would include distance study and research.  The program will include brief periods where the student must attend specific programs on-campus at MIU and/or the Brahmasthan facilities in Kansas.  It is imagined that MIU mentors or experts in SCI or Study of Consciousness could join the students for two to four weeks at the Brahmasthan for both intellectual developments and experiential learning outcomes related to the development of consciousness and/or the specific field of study under which the student is a candidate.

Hosting at the Brahmasthan:  It is the desire to utilize Native American TM Governors and meditating staff to support the hosting of students in the program at the facilities in Kansas.  This may include the supervision of TM Residence Courses for meditating Ph.D. candidates.  It is the desire in this program for the Native American student to feel strongly connected to the Brahmasthan of the USA facilities, with opportunities to meditate and study in an environment that is attended by fellow Native Americans, supervised by Native Americans and when possible, receive mentorship under the guidance of fellow Native Americans.

Themes of Study and Research:  This will be an interdisciplinary opportunity for the student.  The focus of research could include, but is not limited to, Regenerative Organic Agriculture, Natural Health Care, Sustainable Business Development, Native American and Vedic Studies, Consciousness Based Education and other definitions relevant to the expertise at MIU as it exists today and that might be developed in the future.

Development of Consciousness:  It is the intention of this program to support and proliferate the utilization of Maharishi’s Vedic Science throughout the Native American population of the USA.  It is the intention of this program to teach the trainers who work with or within the Native American population, such that this population grows to enjoy the development of higher states of consciousness and contributes the quality of consciousness in the USA and all our global humanity.

Finance:  It is assumed that graduate students of Native American ancestry will have access to full scholarships for graduate studies from their tribal affiliations, the US Department of Education, the US Department of Indian Affairs, and/or state affiliations.

Graduate work will be housed and or based for online education from the US Brahmasthan facilities in Kansas.

For members of various tribal communities who have Master's degrees and includes close interaction with colleges that regularly and extensively serve the Native American tribal communities, targeting especially opportunity for the faculty at such colleges to engage an accredited Ph.D. program. The program has as its basis Consciousness Based Education
